Volunteer Assignments (revised, the 2nd time)

Volunteers, the waiting is over. We were able to place you into positions for the camp.

The following letter was sent today:

Dear Volunteer,

So you’re a Summer Celebration 2008 Volunteer. What now?

First of all, a huge “thank you” is in order. You’ll hear this a lot over the week of the camp. I will not tire of thanking you for making this camp such a God glorifying highlight for these kids and their parents.

“Now what?”….Well, I’m glad you asked. Check out the important information below.

Question: When is our next volunteer meeting?
Answer: Sunday, June 22nd, 1:30-3:00PM in the Events Center. (Pizza and soda will be provided for lunch, and t-shirts will be handed out) This meeting is very important. Please be there.

Question: What are my volunteer hours during the week of the camp?
Answer: 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, June 23rd – 27th.
*Please contact us if you are unable to be at each day of the camp.

Question: What volunteer position was I assigned?
Answer: Please look at the attached Assignment Sheet to locate your name, position, and team. Please note that this information is subject to change. We’re informing you of your position so that you can be as prepared as possible to serve. Please be ready, however, to find yourself in a different position if the roster changes. We’ll try to avoid this as much as possible, but we’re going to need to count on you to be flexible.

Question: What happens if I fail to do my job during the week of the camp?
Answer: We reserve the right to send you home if you are unable to fulfill your responsibilities which include modeling godly character and fulfilling your assigned role 100%. There have been times where we’ve needed to send volunteers home for their failure to meet these expectations. Parents, please note this and prepare your teen for this context.

Question: Do I need to fill anything out before I serve?
Answer: At our last meeting, we gave out the Volunteer Application forms for the 2007-2008 serving year. You must have this form turned in before the camp if you wish to serve. Many of you have already completed one of these forms as a Discovery Land Volunteer. If you’ve done that, you’re all set. However, if you haven’t turned in a form, please do so immediately. If you’d like us to send you a copy, please email Brielle at bnelson@covlife.org.

We have approximately 40 days to go! Share in the countdown by visiting http://summercelebration2008.blogspot.com/. I can’t wait to see you all and share this fun experience together! We simply could not do it with out your participation!

So Grateful for You!
Mike Bradshaw (Mr. B)

Hey guys!

Please feel free to comment, or even better - email me, if you see an error or have a question. You guys seem to be much better than I am at catching the errors. :)

Feel free to say something if you don't see yourself in there and you signed up - It's most likely an error on my part when entering you into the spreadsheet. Thanks!

Kylie - I'm sorry that you were left off of the spreadsheet. You were assigned a position, but it didn't get on. The file has been corrected and the new version will probably be posted soon in replace of this one. You guys will also be getting an updated one in the mail soon.

About Drew being in their twice - that was a copy/paste error. The first one is supposed to be Josh Carroll. Sorry about that. :D

Thanks for your flexability guys!

Hurrah! Some of my friends made it in!
It's 9:26 over here at Hawaii!
Ummmmmmm... Go Colossians! I got moved from Philippians to Colossians:)

Anonymous said...

I got moved from Ephesians to Colossians, so now I is Colossian fan.
GO COLOSSIANS!
And Daniel, where is Alex serving?

WHOA!!!
Why do we have so many 11-12 year old peoples on the boys list? Did we run outta boys again?
And I found Alex, Daniel.
And to all you security, I salute you. I speak from experience when I say that is a long, and usually boring, job.
What's really fun, though, is when a kid goes missing. Well, not fun, but , shall we say, interesting.
And you guys/girls can wear those sunglasses. Very cool.

I've been moved to the Colossians team but I will always be a Galatians fan at heart.

Daniel Garay said...

well we basically needed a lot of boys. i mean, compare the number of boys that signed up to serve to the number of girls, it's astounding.

not to mention that a lot of boys actually have jobs(not to take anything away from the girls).

Go Philippians!

Hey Brielle, I don't know if you saw this, but Josh Carrol is on the sheet twice. Thanks for serving us in this way!

(and i think philippians is spelled wrong...)

Yay! Only 38 more days!
Go Philippians!!

I shan't speak for any team, as I am not on the team with which my "true loyalties" lie, so it would be treason for me to speak either way.:D
Kidding... GO EPHESIANS!

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYAAAAAAAAAA! It's ON people! YEEE HA! Shout out to my girls: Heather, Vanessa, Kara, and Kathryn!! We're gonna have a blast! Galatians definitely have a bangarang crew this year. (Brielle: You gave us Jeff Martin?! You WANT us to win don't you?) I hope that those of you who were sent to other teams still remember how to cheer, cause I'm gonna be challenging you! Finally I can say this with official backing: GO GALATIANS!

Why do people who like the Galatians and aren't on the Galatians still like them? Not that you should hate them (:D), but cheer your team and everyones or your team.
And why does everyone like the Galatians? Is it 'cause the little peeps of CLC were Galatians at Celebration and Galatians ruled, or is it that your favorite color is blue? :)

DUH-because the GALATIANS are AWESOME!! Once you scream your heart out for a team and walk around the rest of the week crippled from lack of voice, you really forget how to cheer for any other team. It's like a reflex, team spirit forces the word "Galatians" from the throats of those who remember the joy of screaming in unison for a terrific team! It's hard to retrain the heart once it has learned to love one specific team. And, let's face it, no other team has really stepped up to the plate and brought the "We ROCK because we exist" mentality. It's all in the enthusiasm my friend. When it comes to team spirit, it is all about how insane you are willing to look for the good of the team. WOOT-DANG GO GALATIANS!!

UHHHH...excuse me but I am not on the list anywhere to serve...Does that mean I am not supposed to come this year???
Mr C

Daniel Garay said...

you're still supposed to come. mr. B isn't on the list either, and i think he has to come too.

Charity I believe you need to read my cheer about true awesomeness (I believe it's "32 days and counting") Galations are cool but they inspire no feelings of dread, veneration, or wonder and therefore don't fit the definition of awesome.

Elizabeth Kelley said...

Okay okay, Chris. :D
Sophie, it's rather because I felt like it, and it's fun.
Mr. Cairnes, you had BETTER show up for this camp! :D
And yes, a lot of the CLC kids were Galatians in Celebration, I think because they split it up alphabetically, and there wound up being a lot of people whose names started with j-m (It's the Scotts again, with the Mac at the beginning...) :D
